DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Victorian Long Distance MTBO Championships is also race 3 of the 2012 Australian\n MTBO Series and also a selection race for the Australian MTBO \nteam for the 2012 World MTBO Championships in Hungary in August.  \n\nMore information in this linked PDF\n\nLong Start list \n\nMap: “Saligari\nSafari” 2 x 4 track specification \nScale\n1: 20,000, 5m\ncontours \n\n\nOrganising club: Nillumbik Emus\nCourse Setter & Organiser:\nRobert Edmonds \n\nEvent Advisor: Peter Hill\n\n\nTerrain:\nSpur gully terrain\nwith some gold mining. Track network complex in some areas with\ngenerally fast riding on a mixture of single and forest tracks. \n \nCourse setter notes: Riders\nneed to note that there are parts of their course where they may\nchoose the option to ride across farm paddocks. These areas of the\nmap are shown as bright yellow. All other farm paddocks are out of bounds.\nThere are fence crossing points marked on the map and these will be\nmarked with pink tape where the gate is locked or shut.\n\nFacilities: There will be a coffee van at the event \n\n\nDirections:\nFrom Maryborough\n take the Pyrenees Hwy (B180) towards Newstead and Castlemaine. 7.5 km \nafter Carisbrook, turn right onto Cotswold Rd (Smeaton). After 4.1 k, \nturn left onto Rodborough Rd. After 0.7 km turn right onto Smeaton Rd \nand continue to Campbelltown (11km). Turn left onto Creswick-Newstead Rd\n (C283). Look for O’Signs after approx. another 2 km turn right onto the\n Lauder Mine track and continue to (2.5 km) to the assembly area\nDistance from Maryborough ~ 40 km. Allow 35 minutes travel time.\nFrom Castlemaine CBD follow the\nMidland Highway south for 1.5km, then turn west towards Newstead and\nMaryborough on the A180. One km after passing through Newstead cross\nthe Loddon river. Turn immediately left towards Guildford then turn\nright towards Creswick on the C283. 12km from the last turn, pass\nthe Werona road just before entering the Sandon forest. Start to\nlook for O signs to the left in the next 2 km. Traffic moves very\nfast along this road so take care while turning. If approaching from\nCreswick direction take extra care here.\n\n\nStart\nTimes: Entry\nlists with start times will be posted on vicmtbo.com in the week before event.
