Victorian MTBO Sprint & Middle Champs

Sunday, 4 July 2010

At the end of June our President, David West, won the Sprint/Middle Double at the Victorian Champs held in Albury.

The Sprint was held in the riverside park in the centre of Albury. Lots of fun and even some tight singletrack in the bush tracks to the west of town. At least twice we had to ride into the Murray River to punch the controls. Riding through parks with lots of features can be a little confusing at speed.

Sunday saw the Middle Championship move to Nail Can Hill. A tough course with lots of small tracks close to residential areas made for fine navigation.

Westie again won the M40 but with a reduced margin, none the less two great wins without the pressure of organising.

He did turn up on Saturday with what looked like 100kgs on his back as he rode in from the airport. (Strange warmup).

Good luck to all at SS5 in the Currumbene State Forest. I apologise to Andy and Jim but I have some unfinished business at the Victorian MTBO Long Champs on Sunday 18 July.

I just rode 100km in the Currumbene, probably enough for now.

Note from El Pres:  Congrats also to Rob who finished 2nd in M50 in the Sprint (in a time 2 minutes faster than me for the same course).
